In the same place but making longer trips
15 December 2011
Ozwold remains in the same area with a few longer trips;
On December 8th/9th he roosted in the desert 30 kms NE; then on 9th/10th he flew 50 kms south before turning back north (he was just 26 kms N of another osprey named Morven at that point) and on December 10th he was briefly 30 kms north in the afternoon.
It's good to see he seems fairly settled in a fish-rich area.

Sad news about Joe
Sadly, there has been evidence that Joe, one of the juvenile ospreys Roy tagged this year has died. Joe's transmitter stopped sending signals in mid October, but began transmitting again in November from one site only.
Frederic Bacuez, a French ornithologist working in Senegal has found the satellite transmitter and the remains of Joe.
To see the full account, follow the link to Roy Dennis's website at the Highland Foundation for Wildlife;

It is a harsh reminder of the survival challenges facing young ospreys.
I hope Ozwold stays safe. I'll update his progress when more news comes in.

No change
4th December
Ozwold remains in the same area, a good overwintering site.
